On Friday 1st May at 1900 our club started a 48 hour Turbo relay to raise funds for our local NHS trust, South Tees Hospitals charity trust. It was a chance for the club to support the NHS in these challenging times, but also show solidarity with Ryan (Coach) who is working on the frontline in the battle against Covid19, Ryan is a paramedic working in Northallerton.
The relay took the shape of an initial group turbo session and after the first hour the individual rides started, one hour per rider to go through the 48 hours. Some riders completed more than one hour, some riders rode longer to support their cycling fwends (Robbie and Lucas). For the last hour all the riders came together for one last session and a bit of a virtual party. Considering this was a challenge completed in individuals homes and we were only connected via Zoom the event was a massive success.
Our initial goal was to raise £500, but our expectations were surpassed and we actually raised £4030 (at the time of writing this). This couldn’t have been achieved if it wasn’t for all of the support from our club members, families, friends and also the support from triathlon clubs across the North East and Yorkshire. Thank You..!
